How to replace a photo of plant or lichen on the site?

Plantarium
online plant identification guide
Photos of plants and lichens

Each participant of the project can replace the photo previously published by him on "Plantarium" with a new, improved version of it. Improvements may relate, for example, to increasing the linear dimensions of the image, changing cropping, correcting brightness, white balance, sharpness, etc. Or photo can be replaced with a better analogue; in this case after the publication of a new image, you should make the necessary corrections to description of photo.

A project participant can only replace his own images; new variants can be offered (uploaded) repeatedly. Otherwise, the same rules and restrictions apply as for photo upload.

How it works

  • You upload a new version of an image to temporary storage, and moderators receive an email notification about it.
  • Moderators check the proposed version of the image and either replace the previously published photo with it, or reject it.

Step by step instruction

  • Log on.
  • Find a photo which should be replaced on page "Set of images" of corresponding taxon or on page "Unidentified plants and lichens" ("Unidentified specimens" in menu). The easiest way is to find the desired photo on your personal page, open the full-size version, and then click on the button left of image.
  • On the page that opens, click on the preview (small copy) of the image and select "Replace image" from the menu that appears.
  • On the "Image replacement" page select the new file and upload it. If necessary (for example, in case of an mistake), this image can be replaced by uploading another file.

After the moderators review the new image and replace the old picture with it, you will be notified by mail. The same applies to the case when the proposed new image is rejected: the reasons for this will be described in the letter sent to you.
