Russian namesProposed scientific: The Latin specific epithet barnumiae refers to Mrs Barnum of the American Mission at Kharput, 1887. She was the wife of Dr Herman W. Barnum. She sent specimens of the iris to Sir Michael Foster from north-eastern Asia Minor, near Lake Urumiah (in Azerbaijan)
